It is good to be home! Taylor was overwhelmed with emotion when she saw that our wonderful neighbors had gotten up very early and lined our driveway and front walkway with flowers, pumpkins, signs, and balloons welcoming her home. Of course, Huey and Ranger welcomed her home with many golden hugs and kisses. Visits from friends and neighbors have certainly brightened our days.
Things are returning to normalcy as we adjust to life outside the hospital. This week, we’ve had home health care for OT, PT, and wound care(for her abdominal surgery). Yesterday, Taylor and I shopped in Reston Town Center, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. I was amazed that Taylor walked throughout the town and back, hitting many shops as we strolled. It was a good day!
Taylor is still struggling to eat larger meals as her stomach continues to recover from the surgery, but it is improving every day. Her stomach incision is healing well, and her arms and legs continue to strengthen. Next week, she should begin outpatient PT locally and will have her third immunotherapy treatment and oncologist appointment on 10/11 in Baltimore.
We are so grateful for the support of our friends and family during this time. Thank you to everyone for the cards, gifts, and kind words. We are truly blessed.
